Pregnancy and Healthy Eating

I am 18 weeks pregnant with my second child. This time around it has been so much easier to eat healthy foods. When I was pregnant with my daughter I craved mainly carbs and sweets. Now, with my son, I crave mainly protein and vegetables. My major food aversions have been sweets and carbs. Thus far I have managed to gain only 1 pound. According to my BMI, I was overweight before I got pregnant so I knew that I would need to watch my weight and eat healthy during this pregnancy. I have been very proud of myself so far. There is definitely still room for improvement. I am currently trying to kick my caffeine addiction. For the first week my plan is to have a caffeinated beverage every other day. Yesterday was my caffeine day and I am feeling much better today after getting caffeine back in my body. I know it isn't going to be easy to kick the habit but I believe it will be worthwhile. I truly believe that in the past sugar has been my downfall to losing weight. I consume so much sugar in my daily Coke.

It will still be at least 4 months before I will be able to diet again. I am going to use this time to make a plan of action to getting my body back. I miss my 120 pound body. I know that I will probably never fit back in my size 5 jeans since my hips have expanded so much for childbirth. I am not really concerned with fitting back into a size 5. I will be happy to be in a 10 again. I just want to be at a healthy weight and to enjoy shopping again. I really hate shopping for size 18 pants.

When my daughter was born, I dropped about 25 pounds in 2 weeks. Somehow I let myself gain back all that weight plus some. This time I am going to start a diet as soon as the baby is born and I am going to let my body heal before I start to exercise. I currently weigh 191 pounds. If I don't gain anything through my entire pregnancy, I still have 70 pounds to lost. It will take a lot of time and effort for that to happen. I know it will be hard but I really believe I can do it.
